ECB's rate talk helps euro gain ground

The euro pared some of its recent sharp losses as Axel Weber, an ECB governing council member, said the central bank was still not considering interest rate cuts this year.

The single currency fell to a six-month low of $1.4570 against the dollar on Tuesday after a German business confidence survey posted its worst results in three years.
