SocGen sticks to independent path

Société Générale has the means to expand by itself and the economic climate does not favour large mergers, the new executive chairman of France’s third-largest bank said on Thursday.

Speaking the day after he was promoted following the resignation of Daniel Bouton as chairman, Frédéric Oudéa’s remarks suggested that he intends to stick to the path forged by his predecessor.
