Comment: Lebanon’s cry for normality

The day after Lebanon’s parliamentary elections I was asked to speak to a British audience about the outcome. To my surprise, few seemed interested in the pro-western coalition which won the vote, the plans of the Sunni-based Future movement leading it, or the splintering of the Christian vote, which had helped propel the alliance to victory.

The audience had one thing on its mind: Hizbollah.
