SAS Scandinavian Airlines finalised the sale on Friday of an 80.1 per cent stake in its heavily lossmaking Spanish subsidiary, Spanair, to a group of Catalan investors for a nominal €1.

The disposal will cost SAS around SKr4.9bn ($585m) in its 2008 results in writedowns, restructuring costs and capital losses.
