UK delays final act of companies law

Implementation of the final stage of the Companies Act will be delayed by a year until October 2009, the government announced on Wednesday.

The delay means the wide-ranging shake-up in companies legislation – the biggest single act ever passed by Parliament, after many years in gestation – will not come fully into effect until almost three years after the bill received royal assent.
