Kremlin on alert for more protests as rouble plunges

Russia is braced for further unrest as the rouble yesterday slid to a new low against the euro after the fourth currency devaluation in a week.

The move extended six weeks of devaluations by Russia's central bank designed to compensate for falling oil prices as the country's main export commodity approached its lowest level since 2004.
