Future fund: Initiative set to boost industry

Australia’s already large asset management industry is set to receive a further boost with this year’s establishment of the Future Fund, a government initiative aimed at meeting the state’s growing public sector pension liabilities.

While countries such as France, Norway, Ireland and New Zealand have set up arms-length pensions funds, Australia appears to be one of the first to employ this model solely to cover its public service liabilities.
