Copper rallies on China spending hopes

Copper led a rally for the base metals sector on Wednesday amid expectations that China would announce new spending plans for infrastructure and manufacturing on Thursday on top of the stimulus plans which were unveiled in November.

Comments from CIC, China’s $200bn sovereign wealth fund, that it saw investment opportunities in the natural resources sector also provided a boost to sentiment.
