Royal Bank of Scotland chief Stephen Hester rounded on critics of the part-nationalised bank on Friday as news of its £1bn net losses in the first half of the year saw its shares tumble 12 per cent.
Mr Hester, who replaced Sir Fred Goodwin as chief executive after the government rescued RBS at the height of the banking crisis last year, said he felt “frustrated by some of the kicking that we get”.
