UK regulator toughens hiring guidelines

The City regulator on Wednesday warned the 5,000 largest UK financial services companies that it plans to be much more involved in the selection of their top corporate officials and to ask tougher questions of potential candidates.

In a letter to the chief executives, the FSA said that under its new “more intrusive” approach to supervision, it will no longer be content to rush through approvals in a couple of days.
