I’m not exactly sure when I got sick. I first came into contact with people who had tuberculosis while doing my medical studies. After graduating, I worked at a clinic in Moscow and among my patients there were several who had TB.

When I look back, I can see I had symptoms for a while. I started to have sweats and to cough, and I was losing weight. But I just thought I was tired or eating badly.
