Dollar slips but nomination cheers financial markets

The dollar wobbled and eventually weakened on Tuesday as traders and strategists tried to assess what a Hank Paulson Treasury would mean for the markets.

Rumours that the nomination might go to Don Evans, the former commerce secretary, had weighed on the dollar as traders assumed he would focus more on trade than on markets.
