East End boy has hit the heights

Joseph Lewis still retains a Cockney twang. But now aged 70 and with homes across the globe, the world inhabited by the Bahamas-based currency trader is far removed from his birthplace, a flat above the Ronan Arms public house in the East End of London.

It is a world filled with golf buddies such as Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, and Bahamas neighbours such as Sean Connery. He is one of the high net-worth individuals who has bought up land in Patagonia, has major developments in and around Orlando, Florida and is the majority shareholder of Tottenham Hotspur, the English Premier League football club.
