Kerry backs Obama to shatter political mould

John Kerry on Thursday strongly endorsed Barack Obama’s candidacy and along the way gave a stinging slap both to Hillary Clinton and to John Edwards, his Democratic running mate in the 2004 presidential election.

Appearing alongside Mr Obama in Charleston, South Carolina, which holds the next Democratic primary on January 26 after the caucuses in Nevada next week, Mr Kerry said an Obama presidency would shatter the “mould of American politics into a million pieces”.
