Securities ruling opens way to US class action suits

More British investors could be encouraged to pursue securities-related class actions in the US after a New York court allowed a UK pension fund to lead -litigation against GlaxoSmith-Kline over its diabetes drug Avandia.

A judge in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York late last week permitted Avon Pension Fund, which represents public sector employees, to be the lead plaintiff in the securities fraud class action against GSK.
