Fears of tougher regulation sent inter-dealer brokers sharply lower.

Icap and Tullett Prebon slid after Tim Geithner told Congress that exchanges should take a greater role in derivatives trading. The US Treasury secretary said a move away from dealing desks and over-the-counter trading would improve transparency.
