ADB probe criticises its own investments

The Asian Development Bank’s private equity fund investments have produced “unsatisfactory” returns, selection has lacked focus while environmental and other safeguards have been weak, its own evaluation unit has concluded.

The regional lender’s operations evaluation department said the investments’ financial risks were “well understood” and the due diligence process was “comprehensive by industry standards”.
