Swinton fined for sales rule breaches

Swinton Group, the UK’s largest high street insurance broker, has been ordered to repay millions of pounds to hundreds of thousands of customers who were mis-sold payment protection insurance.

The Financial Services Authority announced on Wednesday that Swinton – which was awarded Personal Lines Broker of the Year in 2008 – had also been fined £770,000 for “deliberate” breaches of its sales rules for PPI.
