I am about to set out on my annual pilgrimage to the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, eager to see, touch and sample the products and services that will be on display during the four-day event, which kicks off as usual with a keynote address on Sunday from Bill Gates.

The show is the biggest of its kind in the world and what is on display there will helping to shape the booming consumer electronics industry over the next 12 months.
