Semiconductor Manufacturing International, China’s biggest chipmaker, said on Tuesday that its founder Richard Chang had stepped down as chief executive, days after the company lost a key court battle to rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

SMIC said Mr Chang was leaving to pursue “other personal interests”, adding that Edward Yang had also resigned as an independent non-executive director for “personal reasons”. Mr Chang will be replaced by David Wang, a director at Nasdaq-listed Solar Fun Power.
