It should come as no shock that the government has given the green light for pub groups to become real estate investment trusts given the lack of new entrants to the Reit market over the last year.

In spite of aspirations for the UK Reit sector to rival those of the US and Australia, there have been no major new launches since an initial period of conversions in 2007.
