Bad loans no worse at Bank of Ireland

Bank of Ireland said on Friday that the outlook for its loan portfolio had not worsened in recent weeks, following the announcement in May that it expected to swallow €6bn in loan impairment charges over three years.

The bank’s lending operations have been hit by the slump in property markets and the construction sector in Ireland and the UK, as well as a general deterioration in economic conditions.
