Thousands of underperforming children have made more than a year’s progress in mathematics in just three months through a one-to-one tuition scheme partly funded by the City.
Every Child Counts, to be rolled out at government expense to cover 30,000 children in England next year, shows the effectiveness of intensive tuition – the preferred method of Oxbridge dons and teachers of young children struggling at school. The programme also marks a rare case in which increasing City involvement in educational projects showed a measurable improvement in academic standards.
