The image of a watchmaker as “an old bearded man cooped up in a small atelier in the Swiss mountains” is on its way out, according to Mark Hearn, UK managing director of Patek Philippe.

As highly skilled watchmakers start disappearing, a growing number of companies are tapping into the proficiency and individual approach of independent watchmakers.
