Protests set to test de Villepin labour reforms

Dominique de Villepin, France's prime minister, is steeling himself for two weeks of angry protests by trade unions and students against his new labour market reforms.

The demonstrations are expected to provide a stiff test of Mr de Villepin's appetite for reform, ahead of an ambitious legislative programme in the final full year of his government.
