WTO fails to set date for outline accord

World Trade Organisation members on Monday postponed setting a date for a ministerial meeting to forge an outline deal in global trade talks, saying they needed more time to resolve remaining differences.

Pascal Lamy, WTO director-general, had been expected to announce that trade ministers would meet in Geneva later this month, following the circulation at the weekend of new draft texts on liberalising trade in agricultural and industrial goods.
