India warned on economic cost of piracy

The US urged India on Monday to improve its intellectual property rights enforcement to avoid missing out on the foreign investment potential of one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Ron Kirk, the US trade representative, identified copyright and patents as an area in which India needed to strengthen compliance if Asia’s third-largest economy was to attract more investment from US companies and protect its own entrepreneurs.
