Marston’s warns tough year ahead as profits tumble

Marston’s, the brewer and pub operator, has warned of a difficult year ahead as it unveiled a sharp fall in profits, and blamed the smoking ban, weakening economy, poor summer weather and a rise in operating costs.

In spite of the gloomy prognosis Marston’s known formerly as Wolverhampton & Dudley, maintained its final year dividend.
