The fees and funding of NHS dentists in England and Wales change radically this weekend and not everyone is happy about it. From today, local Primary Care Trusts are responsible for NHS dental services. Patients' fees are simplified and the NHS pays dentists for "Units of Dental Activity".
The price of a check-up rises from £5.84 to £15.50, for example, but that now includes X-ray plus scale and polish if required.
