Wal-Mart health law overturned

A federal judge has overturned a controversial Maryland state law that would have required Wal-Mart, the largest US retailer, to spend more on health benefits for its workers in the state.

The law, due to come into force next year, had been challenged by the Retail Industry Leaders Association, whose members include the largest US retail companies.
