B&Q benefits from warmer weather

Sunny skies have brought cheer to Kingfisher, the UK home improvement retail group, which smashed profit consensus for its first quarter on the back of strong sales of barbecue and gardening paraphernalia at B&Q.

Ian Cheshire, chief executive, unveiling the first quarter of underlying sales growth in his British division in more than two years, put much of his success down to clement weather.
