Brown rethinks legislation priorities

Gordon Brown is rewriting early drafts of the government’s forthcoming legislative programme, trimming the number of bills and scrapping measures that place an excessive burden on business.

The prime minister spent the weekend resetting the priorities for Wednesday’s Queen’s Speech, ensuring its focus is unambiguously on tackling the recession and helping families and business.
