Media: Six years on, interest is renewed

The deals done by the world’s media moguls unsurprisingly attract disproportionate coverage, but in 2006 there was plenty of action to match the talk.

It is no coincidence that it was the busiest year for media mergers and acquisitions since 2000: then, as Time Warner sold itself for shares in AOL, the industry’s giants were responding to the emergence of online upstarts.
