Business upset at high turnover of ministers

Business criticised the “unhelpful” high turnover in business ministers on Monday after the latest reshuffle saw Baroness Vadera become the fifth person in less than three years to occupy the role.

The appointment of the former UBS Warburg investment banker turned Gordon Brown adviser to the Department for Business role caused political ructions. Alan Duncan, shadow business secretary, on Monday expressed “serious qualms” about the promotion of Lady Vadera, citing her controversial role in the collapse of Railtrack in 2001.
