DIY enthusiasm boosts Kingfisher

The UK’s enthusiasm for cheap home makeovers helped boost sales at Kingfisher, the owner of the B&Q chain, compensating for weaker demand from the group’s French customers.

Sales at B&Q stores in the UK, which contribute just over a third of group revenue, were expected to fall about 3.5 per cent on a like-for-like basis in the second quarter as homeowners cut back on unnecessary purchases.
