How much is winning in Formula One down to the car and how much is it down to the driver? This is the great imponderable of the competition and one which, for some, throws into question its very nature as a sport.
Leaving aside the philosophical angle, the best drivers are paid upwards of £10m ($18m) a year so they must have some say in the matter. And on tracks such as Monaco, Montreal and Spa they make more of a difference than elsewhere. But would Lewis Hamilton be winning if he drove for a back-of-the-grid team? The answer surely is no.
