Sir, David Pilling (“Chinese growth – the unadulterated version”, November 13) performs a service calling attention to China’s possession of history's smoothest gross domestic product growth, as announced by a besieged, state-controlled statistics bureau. In response to the crisis, growth will go where China’s Standing Committee says is permissible.
