Broadband role for BBC signalled

The BBC could have a role in funding the expansion of superfast broadband networks because of its status as a leading internet content provider, the government said on Tuesday.

Lord Carter, the communications minister, said the BBC could be involved in funding the government’s plans to make basic broadband available to every household.
