Big-four auditors face probe into dominance

The UK government has signalled concern about the ‘big four’ accountants’ dominance of the audit market by commissioning a study on how concentration affects the provision and quality of the service.

The top four firms audit more than 95 per cent of the FTSE 350, a source of anxiety about lack of choice and the ramifications should another large firm fail.
