A Kent-based manufacturer is to treble its high-technology production capacity in the county, allaying concerns that about 60 jobs would be lost in a blow for the sector in the south-east.

It had been feared that AEI Compounds would move outside the region as it planned to leave its base in Gravesend, which is earmarked for redevelopment.
