A curious omission of the matter of interest rates

From Miss Ruth Lea.

Sir, I read Willem Buiter's article "There is no excuse for Britain not to join the euro" (June 3) with curiosity because, try as I could, I could find no reference to the matter of interest rates. This is, to say the least, a curious omission, as the ability to set interest rates appropriate to the economic conditions of the day is self-evidently of considerable relevance to Britain's economic management.
