Bunzl, the distribution and outsourcing group, reported better than expected profits but warned of challenging conditions ahead in its UK and Irish markets.

In particular, the group blamed slowing UK growth on decreased demand for items such as plastic bags for retailers, catering equipment, luxury goods packaging and safety equipment for the construction industry.
