Cameron blames downturn on Number 10

The Conservatives focused their attack on the Budget on the government’s economic record, rather than any specific measures.

The opposition party scents an opportunity from the economic downturn to undermine what has been one of Labour’s main electoral strengths – the economic competence of Gordon Brown.
