BP to step up a gear with green energy business

BP, the UK oil and gas group, is seeking to realise the value of its alternative energy investments, which it believes are worth up to $7bn and have the potential for significant growth.

In a presentation to investors and analysts in London yesterday, Tony Hayward, the chief executive who took over last year, said: "We will be looking at how best we can realise that growing value for our shareholders."
