It was a big week for the three game console makers. Yes, there are three; and Nintendo has just gone to great lengths to ensure that you do not forget this fact by a surprise announcement that its new console will be called not Revolution (its codename) or Go, or On (both hotly-tipped to be its real name), but “Wii” - pronounced “we”.

“Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else,” gushes the Nintendo, er, Revolution website (mysteriously, they still hadn’t bothered creating the sub-domain wii.nintendo.com at the time of writing).
