Little magic left at leading law firms

Simon Davies, managing partner of Linklaters, was polite if understated last week when asked how employees at the world’s second largest law firm were reacting to the news that up to 270 lawyers and support staff – about 12 per cent of its UK workforce – would be made redundant in the coming weeks.
