Samak Sundaravej, Thailand’s embattled prime minister, insisted on Sunday that he would not resign, as he called an emergency parliamentary session to discuss how to end a wave of anti-government protests that has disrupted train and air travel, and led to a six-day siege of his offices.
In his weekly television address, Mr Samak vowed he would not to bow to pressure from the People’s Alliance for Democracy, which has demanded he go, complaining that his seven-month old, elected government is too close to ousted former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
