M&C set for £1bn buying spree

Millennium & Copthorne, the upscale hotel group, dismissed suggestions that economic troubles would slow its growth as it announced strong profits and intentions to spend up to £1bn on acquisitions.

The Singapore-based group, which operates 112 hotels internationally, made pre-tax profits of £157.4m ($305.7m) for the year to December 2007, a 21 per cent rise on 2006.
