Gulliver's travels

HSBC's investment banking arm, overseen by Stuart Gulliver, head of the global banking and markets and asset management businesses, has put in another good performance, although profits failed to beat a strong first half.

The 50-year-old HSBC veteran has had a good year, with the global banking and markets operations seeing the only year-on-year profits rise among HSBC's divisions.
