The dean of admissions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology resigned yesterday for having "misrepresented her academic degrees".
Marilee Jones, who had worked for MIT for nearly three decades, had at times suggested she had degrees from Albany Medical College, Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, but in fact she did not have degrees from any of those schools, according to a spokesperson. Ms Jones had been an outspoken critic of the phenomenon of young people padding their résumés in order to get in to top universities.
